Daoulas Abbey

Abbey Daoulas has the rare privilege of concentrating in one place the interests: the charming gardens and botanical diversity, the heritage site quality and the unique opportunity to experience distant cultures through annual exhibitions.

Former monastery from the 12th century governed by the Canons Regular of the Order of St. Augustine Abbey Daoulas still preserves beautiful testimony today to its original splendor: an abbey in the 12th century (today parish church ), a novel and remarkable cloister basin, a fountain and a 16th century chapel. In exceptional gardens, the garden simple gathering of representative species of the traditional pharmacopoeia of the five continents, enhance the visit.

The Daoulas Abbey Park is transformed!
Parks and gardens are a heritage that changes with the seasons, as the centuries. In 2015 a major redevelopment of the park from the Abbey of Daoulas started. The project is based on creating a garden of medicinal trees echoing the herb garden, created in the 1990s present a selection of trees and shrubs from all over the planet.
The diversity of species planted illustrate that pharmacopoeia made by human societies according to their relation to the body, illness, their beliefs and scientific knowledge and the resources offered by their environment.
